Our Technology

Euclid Discoveries’ technology, EuclidVision is a next generation video processing and compression technology. It addresses the exploding consumer demand for high definition, high motion video on a multitude of video-enabled devices.

EuclidVision extends the block-based compression paradigm to take advantage of features and objects in the video. These features and objects provide a foothold for engaging more advanced modeling, bridging the blocks of conventional compression to feature modeling and object modeling techniques.

EuclidVision runs alongside a conventional encoder, monitoring the complexity of different regions of the video. When EuclidVision determines that the complexity of the video has exceeded the conventional encoder’s capabilities, it applies higher level modeling to those regions. The higher level of modeling is based on features and objects that are tracked throughout the video.

This process can be extended to create Smart Models for those features and objects. The Smart Models can be stored in libraries and reused to improve compression when the features and objects they represent reappear across multiple video streams.

The Smart Model libraries are reusable across multiple, disparate videos, so a user can enjoy multiple videos on a user device with the aid of a single, relatively small library file. Additionally, Smart Model libraries can be created offline, enabling pre-processing of videos and the ability to download model libraries during low peak usage times.

EuclidVision is a foundation technology on which a whole host of technologies can be built. It provides a higher level representation of the video allowing a whole new set of options for compressing, processing, distributing, storing, and indexing high quality video and image data, but it does not necessarily require the use of specialized hardware.
