Richard Y. Wingard
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Richard Y. Wingard directs Euclid's overall strategic direction and drives research and development for the company.  With over 25 years of experience with companies focused on the conception, development and launch of emerging technologies, Mr. Wingard has held senior management positions at a number of leaders in the field, including Access Radiology Corporation, Tel-Care Inc., Multimedia Medical Systems and Vidimedix Corporation.  During his tenure with these companies, Mr. Wingard successfully launched numerous healthcare technologies.  Mr. Wingard was also in senior management at Sprint, where he oversaw the development and execution of a unique healthcare technology product, HANDS™, which set the standard for telemedicine.  Prior to Sprint, Mr. Wingard worked in Sales and Marketing for ten years at AT&T.  Mr. Wingard serves on the MPEG 4 INCITS committee, and is a frequent guest speaker at technology and healthcare conferences.  He also serves as Managing Director of Corista, LLC, a startup specializing in digital pathology services.  Mr. Wingard graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA degree in Psychology.


J. Robert Werner
Co-Founder & President

J. Robert Werner has over 25 years of management experience in various sectors of the technology and healthcare imaging industries.  As President of Euclid Discoveries, he supervises the company's fundraising and direct marketing efforts.  Mr. Werner previously served as Vice President of Business Development & Strategic Alliances for VideoLan Technologies, where he led a successful public offering and negotiated an exclusive marketing agreement with Samsung.  Mr. Werner served as President of MDG, the United States' first dedicated manufacturer of mobile teleradiology and diagnostic equipment.  Under his guidance, the company grew to over 130 employees and quadrupled its revenue.  Mr. Werner was also a key member of the Sprint HANDS (Healthcare Application Network Delivery System) program, where he acted as a charter account manager.  Mr. Werner helped found and create the Computed Tomography Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine Department for the Jewish Hospital of Louisville, Kentucky.  He is a founding member and past President of the Kentucky Society of Nuclear Medical Technologists.  He is also a past member of the National Society of Nuclear Medical Technologists and is AART Board certified in Nuclear Medicine.  Mr. Werner graduated from Western Kentucky University with a BS degree in Biology.


Charles P. Pace
Chief Technical Officer

Charles P. Pace is a highly skilled technologist whose experience ranges from executive strategy to expert software development.  A seasoned industry professional who has made a career of leading high exposure technical development for companies such as Silknet (Kana), Sprint, and IBM, Mr. Pace brings immense value to the company.  As Chief Technical Officer he is responsible for the end-to-end technical strategy and execution that leads to the creation of a viable technology.  Having collaborated on over 17 patents in the areas of distributed systems and collaborative technologies, Mr. Pace's experience in developing intellectual property and his broad knowledge of both mathematics and computer science make him ideally suited to leading a technology team in the design and development of EuclidVision™.  Mr. Pace graduated from Clarkson University with a BS degree in Computer Science, and a BS degree in Mathematics.


Steve N. Hutchinson
Executive Strategist

Mr. Hutchinson has nearly three decades of experience as a venture capital and private equity investor.  He spent two years in investment banking with White, Weld & Co. and the next seventeen years (1976 - 1993) were spent at The Hillman Company, a large private investment company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was a Vice President and Director.  Mr. Hutchinson was also a Managing Partner of the Private Equity Group at Weiss, Peck & Greer.  Throughout his career, Mr. Hutchinson has been involved in placing private equity funding for dozens of private companies and has served on the Boards of several dozen private companies.  Mr. Hutchinson graduated from Vassar College with an AB degree in Liberal Arts. He graduated from Harvard University with a Masters degree in Business Administration.


Anne Marsden
Chief Marketing Officer

As Euclid's Chief Marketing Officer, Ms. Marsden is responsible for the company's overall branding, market positioning, messaging and communications programs.  Working with the company's executive team, Ms. Marsden directs all aspects of the company's external communications, including fostering strategic bonds within the technical analyst community.  Ms. Marsden, has over 20 years of marketing, sales and operational experience in high technology companies in the US, Europe and Latin America.  Ms. Marsden's career has spanned both Fortune 100 and entrepreneurial start-ups, holding Officer, VP and director level positions with companies including Sprint, British Telecom, Jacada, and DataCentric.  Ms. Marsden obtained her B.S. degree in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.


John Weiss, PhD
Chief Algorithmic Mathematician

John E. Weiss, PhD, has over twenty-nine years of experience with algorithms, engineering and matrix theory and has been successfully combining mathematics with his extensive knowledge of various computer languages to devise new technology capabilities.  Currently the Principal Consultant for the Applied Mathematics Group, Dr. Weiss has also been a consultant for a number of leading development firms, including Prometheus Inc. AJ Devaney Associates, Boston Technology, Exxon Product Research, and Kilclare Software.  Dr. Weiss has also held positions at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies at NASA, the Center for Studies of Nonlinear Dynamics, Harvard University, University of California, San Diego, and Computervision Corporation.  Dr. Weiss graduated from New York University with a BS degree in Engineering and Mathematical Physics, a Masters Degree in Mathematics, and a PhD in Mathematics.


Anna Gilbert, PhD
Consulting Algorithmic Mathematician

Anna Gilbert, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan. Dr. Gilbert brings a deep and valuable understanding of analysis, probability, networking, and algorithms to the Euclid team. At the University of Michigan, her particular areas of focus are fast algorithms for compressed sensing, applications of compressed sensing in image processing, designing and building (in collaboration with electrical engineers) analog to digital devices which use fast sampling algorithms, and applications of sparse representation. Prior to joining the staff at UM in 2004, Dr. Gilbert spent six years on the technical staff at AT&T Labs-Research in Florham Park, NJ. In 1997, Dr. Gilbert was a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University and AT&T Labs-Research. Dr. Gilbert received her S.B. from the University of Chicago and her PhD from Princeton. Both degrees are in Mathematics. Dr. Gilbert has been recognized for her work, being named an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow and receiving an NSF Faculty Early Career Development Award. In April of 2008, Dr. Gilbert will receive the National Academy of Science award for Initiatives in Research.


Igor Najfeld, PhD
Algorithmic Mathematician

Igor Najfeld has extensive experience in computer graphics, numerical analysis, matrix theory, and algorithms.  Prior to joining Euclid Discoveries, Dr. Najfeld was an adjunct associate professor for the University of Vermont’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics.  Dr. Najfeld has also held positions at Brown University (IBM Visiting Professor of Applied Mathematics, 1997), Harvard Medical School (Research Mathematician for the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, 1992-1997), and Tufts University (Assistant Professor of Mathematics, 1982-1984).  In addition to his work in academia, Dr. Najfeld has also been a consulting mathematician for various companies including Horizon Research Inc. (1993-1994), Pixelworks (1992-1993), Kendall Square Research (1991), ADRA Corp. (1990-1991), and Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Company. (1984).  Dr. Najfeld has published several articles in journals such as the Quarterly of Applied Mathematics, and the Journal of Mathematical Chemistry.  Dr. Najfeld received a Bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Belgrade, a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from the Weizmann Institute of Science, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Brown University.


Nigel Lee, PhD
Chief Algorithmic Engineer

Dr. Lee brings extensive experience in matrix theory, adaptive signal processing, and systems analysis to Euclid, where he is working to develop advanced algorithms for image and video processing. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Lee was a principal investigator in the Advanced Sensor Techniques Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, MA.   There, he developed advanced adaptive processing techniques to improve the detection and classification of submarine targets via both submarine towed arrays and torpedo arrays.  Dr. Lee has also managed projects focused on adaptive time-frequency detection of active sonar signals in shallow water environments for the Weapons Technology Branch of the U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University in Providence, RI, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  He received both his M.A. and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Princeton University in New Jersey.  His doctoral dissertation was on linear time-frequency detection of transient signals.


Darin DeForest, PhD (ABD)
Algorithmic Engineer

Darin DeForest, PhD, is a senior systems professional with over fourteen years of experience in system architecture, research, and staff development.  Responsible for Euclid's development of systems-based algorithms and proofs of concept, Dr. DeForest's technical expertise includes full life-cycle object oriented development, and the modeling, design, and development of web and database systems on desktop and mobile systems.  He has also led systems development programs for a number of major corporations including, Motorola, Boeing, American Express, CSC and CSX.   Dr. DeForest graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Computer Science.  He went on to Arizona State University, Tempe, graduating with a PhD from the Department of Computer Science.


Amit K. Roy-Chowdhury, PhD
Consulting Technical Scientist

Amit K. Roy-Chowdhury, PhD, is an acknowledged authority in the area of Computer Vision.  His work for Euclid Discoveries is focused on integrating the effects of motion, illumination and pose in image formation, and developing models for human activity recognition under changing environmental conditions.  Currently an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of University of California, Riverside, Dr. Roy-Chowdhury's research includes computer vision, video analysis, image processing, pattern recognition and statistical signal processing.  Dr. Roy- Chowdhury's work has appeared in several publications, including the International Journal of Computer Vision, Computer Vision and Image Understanding, IEEE Trans. on Image Processing, IEEE Trans. on Pattern Analysis and Intelligence and the Encyclopedia of Statistical Sciences.  He is the author of a monograph titled "Recognition of Humans and Their Activities Using Video".  Dr. Roy-Chowdhury graduated from Jadaupur University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, and he graduated from the Indian Institute of Science with a Masters degree in Engineering.  Dr. Roy-Chowdhury went on to the University of Maryland, College Park, graduating with a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering.


Jeffrey V. Roberts
Director of Engineering

Mr. Roberts works closely with the Company's Chief Technical Officer and engineering team to plan, manage, and deliver Euclid's technology.  Leading technology development teams for over seventeen years, Mr. Roberts has delivered mission critical client/server and distributed Web based software applications for major United States based companies such as IBM, National Semiconductor, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, and Charles Schwab.  He has designed and implemented new and innovative computer software products for both established and startup firms in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Roberts graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam with a BA degree in Computer and Information Science.


Anne Watelet
Technical Process Manager

Ms. Watelet works closely with the Company's Chief Technical Officer and Director of Engineering to lead the design and development of the company’s Task Management System (TMS).  TMS is a proprietary workflow processing system designed to facilitate full life-cycle Intellectual Property development and IP management.  Ms. Watelet’s background in project management, database programming, and execution of high exposure projects with virtual teams uniquely suits her to this role.  Prior to joining Euclid Discoveries, Ms. Watelet worked on mission critical applications for companies including IBM, Pratt & Whitney and most recently, American Skiing Company, one of the largest operators of alpine ski, snowboard and golf resorts in the United States. During her 10 years at American Skiing Company, Ms. Watelet held a number of positions, including Director of POS systems.  In this role, she managed all aspects of the POS systems for retail sales, ticketing, rentals and ski schools in 5 states.  Ms. Watelet graduated with honors from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS degree in Computational Mathematics.


Renato Pizzorni
Lead Software Engineer

Mr. Pizzorni is responsible for the engineering design and development of the Company's proprietary technology.  Having been the project leader in the design, development, and implementation of sophisticated network technology, Mr. Pizzorni has extensive experience in advanced computer programming languages. He has also created a number of functional and analytical computer programs for major corporations, including IBM, Sprint, Halliburton, Northern Telecom and Open Software Foundation.  Mr. Pizzorni graduated from the National University of Engineering in Lima, Peru with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, and from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Masters degree in Information Systems, and a Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering.


Bentley Pace
Knowledge Manager

Bentley Pace has over thirty years of experience in building and developing mission critical infrastructure and knowledge systems.  From ITT and FM Global to smaller technology startups, he has helped a wide range of United States and international clients bring their products and services to market.  At Euclid Discoveries Mr. Pace's role is to provide the efficient capture and effective sharing of information, with an emphasis on documenting and securing the company's patentable intellectual property.  Mr. Pace graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA degree in English.
